Trailblazing 2024: China EU Innovation and Technology Cooperation Conference Successfully Held

In a significant move to amplify collaboration and innovation between China and Europe in the realm of electronic materials, “China EU Innovation and Technology Cooperation Conference & Electronic Materials Technology Matchmaking Event” was successfully held in Hefei on July 4th.
The gathering was graced by the presence of distinguished figures including Gao Xiang, Director-General of China Science and Technology Exchange Center; Liu Jianguo, President of the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Yao Qun, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Anhui Province; Ning Bolun, Head of European Cooperation Division at the Bureau of International Cooperation, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Rodrigo Martins, Professor in Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal; Elvira Fortunato, former Portuguese Minister of Science, Technology, and Higher Education; José Alferes, Vice-Rector of Universidade Nova de Lisboa; Professor Hu Guohua, Professor in University of Lorraine, France, and other renowned experts.
Liu Jianguo, Gao Xiang, Yao Qun, and José Alferes warmly congratulated the successful organization of the event and expressed robust confidence in the blossoming prospects of Sino-European partnerships.
A highlight of the event was the unveiling ceremony of the China-Europe Joint Laboratory on Electronic Materials, which commits to tackling fundamental scientific queries and technological challenges in the field, fostering groundbreaking research and technology advancements.
The day also witnessed the signing of MoU between Chinese and European research institutions, solidifying intentions for collaborative endeavors. Prof. Rodrigo Martins was bestowed the prestigious PIFI Distinguished Scholar by Ning Bolun for his international scholarly excellence, and Prof. Elvira Fortunato received an Honorary Professorship from the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science, awarded by Liu Jianguo. Both professors captivated audiences with their invitational academic addresses.
Progressing into the afternoon, a dynamic Electronic Materials Technology Matchmaking Event saw presentations from 10 key players, including Hefei BOE Technology, The 43rd Research Institute of CETC, and Zhongke Yuanzhen, sharing technical necessities, and exploring avenues for project cooperation.
An added highlight was the online keynote titled "DYNAMERS - ADAPTAMERS Towards Dynamic and Adaptive Functional Polymers," delivered by Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, 1987 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry.
